Veritas provides high-quality public affairs assistance to clients seeking to influence and affect policy and regulatory outcomes.
As the Founder and Principal of Veritas Public Affairs, Tracey Chavira brings over 25 years of extensive government and political experience to her clients. She leverages her expertise in public affairs and government relations to assist clients in engaging with elected officials and key decision-makers, navigating public agencies to overcome obstacles, building coalitions to advocate for policy concerns, and enhancing brand recognition for maximum marketing exposure.
Tracey is an eight-year veteran of Los Angeles City Hall, where she gained invaluable insight into the inner workings of local policy, procedure, procurement, and budget. Her federal experience includes serving as a field representative in a Congressional office, where she addressed issues related to immigration and veterans’ affairs. Additionally, she has worked on Capitol Hill at a lobbying firm and held a position focusing on campaign finance compliance.
In between her roles in public service, Tracey spent nearly five years at the Central City Association of Los Angeles, a leading business advocacy organization, as the Director of Government and Member Relations. In this capacity, she advocated for the organization's members at all levels of government, built and mobilized effective coalitions, shaped public policy, and supported political fundraising campaigns.
Prior to founding Veritas, Tracey also played an instrumental role in developing groundbreaking New Economy policies, serving as a trusted advisor to clients facing legislative and regulatory challenges. She provided strategic counsel, advocating effectively for clients before local elected officials and decision-makers, and various regulatory agencies, including the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), the Metropolitan Water District (MWD), and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro).
Tracey is devoted to community service and actively takes on leadership roles beyond her professional work. She is on the Advisory Board of the College of Natural and Social Sciences at California State University, Los Angeles, where she champions student advancement through internship and employment opportunities. Additionally, she serves on the board of the San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance, an organization that unites business, government, labor, and academia to advocate for critical policy and quality of life issues.
Tracey earned her Master of Science degree in Public Administration from California State University, Los Angeles, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Service from the University of California, Riverside. She is also an active alumna of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy.
Outside of her professional and community commitments, Tracey enjoys spending time on the golf course with her partner, Robert, and riding bicycles in Palm Springs with her 13-year-old daughter, Teddi. Tracey’s beloved maltipoos, Daisy and Penny, are never too far away.
